Amanda Leanne Swan

"Music is love in search of a word." - Sidney Lanier

Amanda Swan, a freshman, hails from Santa Rosa, CA, but has spent most of her days in Boise and Meridian, ID. Her heart, however, is in San Francisco. She is a graduate of Meridian High School.

Amanda plays French horn in Symphonic Winds and the All-Campus Concert Band, and mellophone in the Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band and basketball pep bands. Amanda has also been known to play trombone, flute, clarinet, and alto and tenor saxophone.

Amanda is the historian of the colony, has been mellophone section leader for the past two years, and has received two Instrumentalist Merit Awards and an Instrumental Musicianship Award. She has also won an International Poet of Merit Award, and is proud to be the Undisputed Queen of Klutz.

When not working as a sales rep at the Boise State University Bookstore, Amanda likes movies and swing/ballroom dancing. Her birthday is July 28, 1982, and she is terribly fond of shimmery underwear. One day, Amanda hopes to have an executive career in which she can make "lotsa moolah" while influencing lives in a positive way - or to follow in the footsteps of the legendary singer/songwriter Paul McCartney and start her own band.
